Monday 5 October: Guest lecture ASRE

op 18 september 2015

Cécile van Oppen will be a guest teacher for the Master Area and Real Estate of the Amsterdam School of Real Estate (ASRE). Cécile will give a guest lecture for the master’s students on the topic ‘Sustainability through supply chain management’.

The new educational vision of the ASRE was accompanied by a renewal of the teachers. The real estate industry is developing so rapidly that it is important to bring the new generation of real estate thinkers and doers into the innovations taking place in the real estate sector. Therefore the ASRE has asked Copper8 to give a guest lecture for the Master of Area and Real Estate Development.

Sustainability is a must in the built environment today. The Copper8 approach to procurement and construction projects is distinctive in the market because the starting point is not looking at labels or standards (LEED, BREEAM, etc.) but rather cooperation. Understanding the interests of the client and the potential contractors creates a special process, which always leads to iconic projects in the built environment.

Examples of projects led by Copper8 advisors include the housing project Co-Green (winner of the Groene Speld 2012, the Betonprijs in 2013 and the Zuiderkerkprijs 2014) and the recently opened Liander office of Duiven (winner of the BIM Awards BENELUX).

Both projects are progressive in terms of energy but also leading in the area of the Circular Economy. Significantly, Copper8 consultants already guided the project Co-Green in 2008-2009, even then anticipating the developments in the market.

During the guest lecture, Cécile will also look at the ‘interests game’, after which the students will be taken through different cases where cooperation has played a role.
